Himalayan Ginger and Lemongrass: a soothing treat

On those long afternoons when one thinks dinner time will never come, a cup of this tea is a perfect way to bridge the gap. So delicious.

Less is best

Two of my favorites, ginger & lemongrass, unite for a delicious afternoon steep. I typically reserve this for the evening steep, but love it to relax. The aromatic effects after steeping are invigorating but soothing. Lemongrass takes center stage. The first sip yields a lemon drop flavor but if you allow it to linger a on the palate, a hint of spice from the ginger greets you kindly. On the resteep the lemongrass takes a back seat and the ginger spices things up just a bit. This tisane is so good, I jumped at the opportuniTEA to order more from Rare Tea Company in this beautiful tin. Not good

It was very hard to find any taste in the tea. I don´t know if it was some, but it didn´t taste like anything. Very subtle but hardly any herbal taste

A perfect balance

A perfectly delicious herbal blend. I love to make a big batch and then drink it cold.

There was hardly any taste of ginger and the tea had little taste of anything. I almost threw the tea out, but then decided to add a few slices of root ginger to the infusion. What an improvement! (And no, I haven't lost my sense of taste due to Covid 19!)

Tasting Notes

From soft grassy notes of fresh hay this bright infusion develops into sweet lemon drops combined with the rich tingle of spice.

Longer infusion can build great depth and heat.

Use 0.07oz of leaf per 5.1fl oz of water (2g per 150ml).

For the optimum infusion use 212°F (100°C) water.

Infuse for 30 seconds to a minute, tasting regularly. For a more vigorous infusion, leave for longer intervals to develop.

You can infuse these herbs at least three times. With each careful infusion, different subtleties of flavour are revealed.

Cost Per Cup

21¢ per cup based on 0.07oz of leaf per 5.1fl oz of water and 3 infusions.

Sri Lankan Lemongrass

The lemongrass is made using the tender leaf rather than the woody base. It is grown in a remote mountain tea garden above the Ravana Falls combined with smallholder organic farms across Sri Lanka.

Extraordinary ginger
