Japanese Genmaicha Loose Leaf Green Tea
5 reviewsTop grade Japanese green loose leaf tea with toasted brown rice.
This Genmaicha is rather special and unusual, as we use a superior Sencha and combine it with organic Japanese toasted brown rice.
Traditionally Genmaicha was made with old, inferior or lower grade sencha and the toasted rice was used as filler to disguise the inferior quality. We don't do that.
The sencha is crafted by Moriuchi san - one of the most revered tea-masters in Japan. His 200 year old tea-garden in Shizuoka is still family run, alongside his wife and daughter.

Always the best!
Ever since reading Henrietta’s book “Infused,” I have become obsessed with all of her teas. I ADORE this genmaicha…. but honestly I adore every single tea I’ve purchased from Rare Tea. I feel so lucky and blessed to have found such an amazing supplier of the world’s best teas…. and it makes my heart sing to know that they are grown with respect for the Earth and respect for the farmers.

Best Genmaicha!
I’ve tried genmaichas from many different tea brands/companies and this one is by far superior to the rest. If you’re a genmaicha fan, this won’t disappoint.
Beautiful tea
The first infusion is all about the toasted rice, full-bodied, generous to the palate and filling. Second infusion is when the tea makes more of an appearance and is slightly acidic but rounded out by the rice. Third infusion is a dance between the two ingredients, a beautiful balance of flavor that sits wonderfully on the tongue. I recommend this tea to anyone who loves strong black coffee. I’ve tried many genmaicha teas and this one is just lovely, with little to no fishy notes. Stocking up on this one.
Something Fun To try
This was the first tea of its kind that I have tasted. I enjoyed the flavor of the popcorn and rice, however for me it overpowered the flavor of the green tea on the first and second infusion. The sweet spot was the 3rd infusion where more of the gentle undertones of the green tea was able to shine.
Genmaicha
This is my favorite tea. I have tried many other brands but this one is the most satisfying!
