Tasting Notes
Made with slightly cooler water at 85°C and enjoyed without milk, the leaves reveal beautiful apricot notes with robust, precise tannins just at the front of your mouth. Burnt sugar and a hint of bright lemon combine with subtle hints of pumpkin seeds, tangerine and Kalamata olive.
Made with water at 100°C and with the addition of milk this whole leaf black tea evokes an apricot tarte tatin with a dollop of double cream. You won't find the deep colour and the rich maltyness of Lost Malawi - this is an altogether more fruity, sweet and elegant tea.
Quantity
Use 0.09oz of leaf per 5.1fl oz of water (2.5g per 150ml).
Temperature
For the optimum infusion use 185°F (85°C) water. To take with milk, please use water at 212°F (100°C). We recommend trying both!
Time
Infuse for 90 seconds if having black, or 2 minutes if having with milk.
Infusions
You can infuse this tea at least twice at 185°F, and once at 212°F. With each careful infusion, different subtleties of flavour are revealed.

The whole leaves that compose this blend of loose leaf black teas were all hand plucked with great care from different fields and harvests across the Satemwa Estate. The teas were delicately handcrafted by skilled men and women before being blended by our Tea Lady, Henrietta to create a delicious expression of Satemwa's magnificent terroir.
This blend includes a unique Malawian cultivar developed over many years to best suit the local environment - helping tea bushes adapt to the climate crisis we all face.
Satemwa ploughs great care and ingenuity into caring for the land - creating a wonderfully biodiverse environment in which tea bushes thrive and flourish.
Another of the tea varietals is particularly rich in antioxidants and theanine. It is handled with extreme delicacy - being transported in crates rather than sacks to protect the leaf from crushing.
Usually breakfast blends combine broken leaf, for their deeper tannins and faster extraction (having more surface area for the water to penetrate).
It's not uncommon for the leaves to come from many gardens across continents, blended for uniformity of taste, year after year.
This is an exquisite, handcrafted expression of a single garden at its peak.
